Miramonte was founded in 2001 by 33-year old entrepreneur, Cane Vanderhoof. Since then, the winery has emerged as one of the most respected and heavily awarded wineries of the southern California. Today, Miramonte's pursuit of excellence keeps it at the very forefront of Temecula Valley winemaking. Located in the heart of the Valley, the winery and estate vineyard sit at an elevation of 1400 feet, and our remaining vineyards are located between 1400 and 1600 feet. We own, manage or otherwise buy the grapes from 44 total acres of Temecula's finest vineyards. We tend to focus on Rhone grape varieties, but continually look for interesting expressions of additional varieties. To plant and manage our vineyards, we work closely with Southern California's premier vineyard manager, Ben Drake. The goal in the vineyard is to grow grapes which show consistent concentration and intensity, year-after-year. We typically plant our vines in 9x5 or 9x6 spaced rows (806 vines/acre or 968 vines/acre). Each vine is limited to 8-12 bunches per year, and farmed for a careful sense of balance. We feel this ensures the development of a genuine sense of place in the flavors and aromas of each vineyard block. Miramonte Estate vineyard is planted to Entav Syrah clones 383 and 470, and Petite Syrah clone 1.
