The original Keyways Vineyards were planted in the mid 1960's to determine the viability of establishing a Wine Country in the Temecula Valley. In 1989, Carl Key, an Orange County restaurateur and real estate investor, opened Keyways Winery. His vision was to create premium varietals and estate wines from the emerging Temecula Wine Country as well as from other California appellations. Terri Pebley, a successful Temecula business woman, purchased the winery in 2004 and Keyways Vineyards & Winery embarked Temecula on a new era. Today Keyways has the unique distinction of being the first woman owned and managed winery in Temecula, and one of the few in California. Since 2004, the winery and estate have undergone an extensive make-over including the remodeled tasting room, expanded production facility, and relandscaped grounds. The original Zinfandel vineyards have been replaced with Viognier, Roussanne, Tempranillo and Grenache to delight the changing palates of today's wine enthusiast and to establish the Keyways estate wines of the future.
