Gouvion Vineyards is nestled amongst native oak trees in the hills above the Santa Rosa Plateau and its 7000 acre nature preserve. One mile west, the Cleveland National Forest and Camp Pendleton separate the vineyard fron the Pacific Ocean and the City of Oceanside. At an elevation of 2400 feet, the vineyard provides expansive views from the Pacific Ocean to the Temecula Valley. The nearest town is Murrieta.
Being situaded on the South facing slope an extinct volcanic mountain provides Gouvion Vineyards with its unique and exciting terroir. The vineyard site is made up of an extremely rocky, red clay soil which provides a nutrient rich, yet streeful growing enviroment for our vines.During the summer growing season, our day-time temperature ranges between 85 degrees and 95 degrees, with morning fog and cooling afternoon breezes comimg off the nearby Pacific Ocean. Combine these factors together and you get a terroir that allows our vines to produce intensely flavored and robust fruit-the key to any great wine!
