Please note that these wines and winery label are no longer available, but are kept here on STW as part of the classic Temecula wine making history:
Etienne Cowper was the award winning wine maker at Mount Palomar Winery, starting back in 1991. His previous experience in the 80's included stints in Northern California at the prestigious Konocti Winery in Lake County, and later, as the Senior AssistantWinemaker/Enologist at the celebrated Kendall Jackson Winery in Lakeport, before heading south to join the Poole family in the launching of Mt. Palomar in the early nineties. After a decade and a half of award winning production at Mt Palomar, Etienne moved over to become part of the Wilson Creek wine making team, in 2007, and also oversees winemaking chores for the newly established Tesoro Winery (Kimberly Vineyards, accross from Wilson Creek), with tasting room on Old Town Front Street in Temecula.
The Rey Sol label was originally one of the specialty lines offered in the early years of the Mt Palomar Winery, specific to Rhone style varietal wines. His family's "Cowper Family Vineyards" still occasionally resurrects the label and bottles it's own estate wines, all in the previously established tradition. They are typically very fine productions, and are always in limited supply and hard to find. Only available occassionally,
Rey Sol Wines has no tasting room at this time, but very limited quantities, when they are available, can be found exclusively on the internet, only at www.ShopTemeculaWines.com
